Inclusive Waste Wise Cities

About 4 billion people currently live in cities, and according to recent forecasts, that number will rise to nearly 7 billion in 30 years. This migration to urban areas is putting enormous pressure on sustainable urban management. It is becoming increasingly difficult to keep cities inclusive. The existing gap between rich and poor in urban areas may widen, potentially destabilizing both cities and entire countries.

IWWC is researching how cities can design their waste management systems in a way that contributes to an inclusive, circular city. In this project, the Erasmus Initiative 'Dynamics of Inclusive Prosperity' and TU Delft have been working with the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL) and with Peking University, City University Hong Kong and Tongji University in China.

Recently finished, the project published a Book with all findings: The Inclusive Circular Economy
