Exciting news for our student community! We are happy to announce the first event of 2018: an in-house day at Europe's largest rooftop aquaponics farm, here in The Hague!
UrbanFarmers Netherlands, the company running the greenhouse, has a clear mission: growing the freshest and greenest food in the city and for the city. As we know, food production is one of the main drivers of human-caused environmental impacts. So how are we going to meet the demand of a growing population within the carrying capacity of our planet? Urban farming might be one of the answers.
But can rooftop farms be the future of commercial urban agriculture? How more sustainable and healthy is urban aquaponics compared to traditional food production techniques?
This tour was moved by the curiosity of answering these and more questions. We will experience UrbanFarmers with several veggie tastings and a Q&A session with an aquaponics expert who will answer your most challenging questions. Afterwards we have prepared for you a one-of-a-kind experience with drinks at the rooftop bar facing the stunning skyline of The Hague!
