"Sustainability in food production” with Karin Schroën

The LDE CfS Talks are organized every second Wednesday. In this edition, Karin Schroën (Senior Application Scientist at Signify) discusses sustainable luminaire design. Take a look at the recording at the bottom of this page.  

Short summary 
In this presentation, prof. Karin Schroen will discuss current food production practices in the light of sustainability. She will cover aspects related to energy and water use, and the impact of the choice of ingredients on overall sustainability. Next, she will shed her light on innovative techniques and how they could contribute to a more sustainable future, and give a perspective on that.

KSAbout the speaker:
Prof. Karin Schroen specialises in food process engineering, and is affiliated with Wageningen University, and the University of Twente. In her research she uses the nano- and micrometre scale as a starting point for her investigations. The insights thus obtained are used to design food ingredient processes, and food products that are inherently more sustainable.

Every two weeks, the LDE CfS hosts Talks, a series of online webinars where experts from academia, research institutes, businesses, and government come together to share knowledge and best practices for shaping a more sustainable and just society. The topics covered range from technical to social, including resource use & circularity, green energy, healthy environments, and social & economic transitions. The talks are organized on Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00, and are online (Microsoft Teams).
