[LEIDEN] Beyond the Baobab People, Biodiversity, and Change in Madagascar

Start date
End date
Location
van Steenis (Einsteinweg 2), Leiden University, Room F1.04

Madagascar is one of the world’s great biodiversity hotspots, home to unique species and breathtaking landscapes. At the same time, it is also a country facing profound socio-economic challenges, including water scarcity, rapid environmental change and shifting livelihoods, as well as political upheaval inspired by global generation Z protests.

How do these two worlds meet? And how can we, through photography, reveal the deep connection between people and nature in a place where ecological richness and everyday uncertainty exist side by side?

Join us on 12 February for an afternoon that brings these questions to life through research, photography and personal stories from the field. The lecture starts at 16:00 (walk in at 15:30) and after there are drinks at 17:30.
