From 2-4 September LDE CfS joins Eccentrade in organising a Circular Economy Hackathon which will challenge students to help develop new innovative ideas and prototypes that bridge Trade and Sustainability and help map the future circular economy and each company's position within it.
Why?
We think that information will be an important resource within this new economic paradigm in which we recognize the opportunities of utilizing digital technologies to drive the future circular economy. Eventhough trade & sustainability are still perceived as seperate topics within our established and incumbent linear model, we strongly believe that these two concepts are actually intertwined if not inseparable.
Who?
This hackathon requires a multi-disciplinary approach and teams incl. data scientists, developers, visualisation and UI experts as well industrial ecologists and/or environmental scientists. We have four main categories for Hacker Profiles; Data Junkie; Graph Guru; Devop Dude / Diva; Eco Expert.
What?
THE CHALLENGE: HOW CAN YOU USE DATA TO STIMULATE THE FORMATION OF SYNERGISTIC RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN COMPANIES IN ORDER TO FACILITATE THE TRANSITION TOWARD A CIRCULAR ECONOMY?
All teams are asked to address this central research question, however, participants are free to refine this question or narrow the scope as they see fit. The following subquestions may help to further refine the hackathon parameters:
